As expected, Doosan Bears pick Kwak-Bin, NC Dinos pick Tanner.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) officially announced on Monday that Doosan Kwak-bin and NC Tanner will be the starting pitchers for Game 1 of the Wild Card Decision. Game 1 of the Wild Card Decision will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 19 at NC’s home stadium, Changwon NC Park.
Kwak-Bin and Tanner have already been announced as Game 1 starters. Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop and NC manager Kang Myung-ho had previously announced the starting pitchers for Game 1, which the KBO made official today.
Kwak-Bin has been Doosan’s homegrown ace this season. In 23 games this season, he has a 12-7 record and a 2.90 ERA. Both his wins and ERA are career lows.
He struggled to stay healthy during the Hangzhou Asian Games due to a combination of a bout with the flu and a cold, but in his final appearance of the season, he pitched six innings of one-run ball against the KIA Tigers on April 13. He will start in a crucial game with the team’s fall baseball fate on the line.
In three appearances against NC this season, he is winless with one loss and a 3.07 ERA. In 14⅔ innings, he gave up five runs and two home runs. Earned his first win in the postseason.
NC will be countered by foreign pitcher Tanner. Tanner, who joined NC as a substitute, is 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 11 games. Ace Eric Peddie will start after suffering a bruise in his last appearance against KIA on April 16.
He faced Doosan just once in the regular season. He earned the win on Aug. 20 with six innings of three-run ball (one earned). With wins in each of his last two starts, he’ll enter the game with a lot of confidence.
The favorite in the wild card matchup is NC, who finished fourth in the regular season. Starting with one win, NC only needs to draw the first game to qualify for the semi-finals. Fifth-place Doosan, on the other hand, must win two games to achieve an upset. 메이저사이트
Both teams will be fighting tooth and nail to win Game 1. The stakes are higher than ever for starting pitchers Kwak-Bin and Tanner. If Doosan wins Game 1 to force a Game 2, Brandon Waddell (Doosan) and Song Myung-ki (NC) will be the starting pitchers.
