The Los Angeles Dodgers are 100-62 in the regular season with a +207 run margin. But they don’t have a starting pitcher. They need another 35-year-old pitcher with a 162 ERA.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Monday that he will start Kershaw in Game 4 of the National League Division Series (NLDS).
“It’s the best and only option for me,” Roberts said, meaning that no other starter will start Game 4.
This means that Kershaw will start Game 4 on April 12 with just three days of rest after starting Game 1 of the NLDS on April 8.
Of course, Kershaw threw fewer pitches in that start, as he struggled mightily and was pulled early. He only threw 35 pitches. The question is what he was pitching at the time.
Kershaw walked off the mound after giving up six runs with one out in the first inning. He has an ERA of 162. He gave up a whopping five runs before getting another out.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to overcome Kershaw’s big innings, going 2-11 in his last 11 starts. Dropping the all-important Game 1.
Putting Kershaw back on the mound like this is more of a reflection of the team’s lack of confidence in him than it is a reflection of their mound strength.
The Dodgers are missing Tony Gonsoli and Julio Urias, and Walker Buehler has yet to return. That leaves only Kershaw and Bobby Miller as the only true starters.
They could opt for a bullpen day, but Roberts seems to be leaning toward Kershaw. Of course, this means that the Dodgers will need to win Game 2 or Game 3 to set up a Game 4. 레고토토
Kershaw has struggled in the postseason even when his stuff is good, so there’s not a lot of confidence that he’ll be able to overcome a low-pressure situation.
Nevertheless, Roberts is calling Kershaw the Game 4 starter. It will be interesting to see if Kershaw can live up to that expectation away from home at Chase Field.
