Barca Emergency!—Lewandowski Injured OUT

Barcelona has been dealt a blow after losing star striker Robert Lewandowski, 35, to injury.

Barcelona traveled to FC Porto in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) tie at 4:00 a.m. ET on May 5 and won 1-0 thanks to a first-half stoppage-time goal from Ferran Torres (23).

Despite taking all three points away from home, Barcelona were not smiling. That’s because their key striker Lewandowski was injured.

Lewandowski was tackled hard by an opponent in the 34th minute and lay on the field, unable to get up for a while. In great pain, Lewandowski was eventually replaced by Torres and carried off the field. While on the bench, he was seen applying ice to his left ankle.

Lewandowski’s injury was more serious than first thought. Barcelona announced on their official website, “Lewandowski has been examined and has sustained an injury to his left ankle. He is currently unable to play and we will monitor his progress and make a decision on his availability.”

“Lewandowski could be out for more than a month with the injury,” said Tony Humamarti of Spanish outlet Sport. If that happens, he could miss the El Clasico derby against Real Madrid.” 메이저사이트

Lewandowski has been integral to Barcelona this season. Last season’s top scorer, Lewandowski has led Barcelona’s offense this season with five goals and three assists in eight Spanish La Liga games. This is a devastating injury for Barcelona, as he could miss the El Clasico in 28 days if his recovery is prolonged.
