Samsung put together its first all-hit game of the season, sweeping the final game of the season against leader LG.
Samsung won 11-1 against LG in Jamsil on April 28. After scoring two runs in the first inning, Samsung got a hit from every batter in the starting lineup. They totaled 15 hits. Starting pitcher Choi Chae-heung earned his first victory since leaving the military. It was his first start in 737 days since September 21, 2021, against Sajik Lotte.
At the center of the batting explosion was leadoff man Ryu Ji-hyuk, along with Koo Ja-uk, Pirela, and Lee Sung-kyu. Ryu went 5-for-5 with a home run and an RBI, Koo went 3-for-2 with a home run and two RBI, Pirela went 5-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, and Lee Sung-gyu went 5-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Choi threw 94 pitches, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings. It was his first win after seven losses this season without a win. Choi was followed by Choi Ji-gang, Noh Gun-woo, and Kim Seo-joon.
With the win, Samsung improved its record to 55 wins, 75 losses, and one tie. They finished the season with a 6-10 record against LG.
Samsung struck first. In the top of the first inning, Ryu Ji-hyuk led off with an eight-pitch walk to load the bases. Kim Hyun-jun followed with a timely triple to take a quick lead. In the next at-bat, Koo Jae-rook singled to right field with the bases loaded.
Pirela singled to left, but the rally was quickly halted by an infield single. After Oh Jae-il flied out to center field, Koo Jae-ook was thrown out trying to steal second base. Lee Jae-hyun flied out to center field to end the first inning.
After an unsatisfying first inning, Samsung came out on fire in the top of the fourth. They took the lead early with a seven-run inning. After a leadoff double by Oh Jae-il, Lee Sung-kyu singled, Kim Young-woong doubled and stole second. Lee Byung-heon then singled to left to put runners on first and third, and Ryu Ji-hyuk followed with a single to right to chase LG starter Lee Jung-yong off the mound.
They were hot against the next pitcher, Son Ju-young. Two batters later, Koo Jae-rook singled to left and Pirela followed with a single up the middle. Back at the plate, Oh Jae-il drew a walk and Lee Jae-hyun followed with a two-run double to left to make it 9-0. It was Samsung’s first multi-hit game of the season.
With the game in hand, LG changed the fielding staff to give its starters a break. Ahn Ik-hoon’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning broke the 0-0 streak. 먹튀검증
In the top of the sixth, Samsung scored its 10th run on an RBI single by Lee Sung-gyu and its 11th run on a sacrifice fly by Lee Byung-heon. In the seventh inning, the bullpen was called upon to complete the win.
LG’s starter Lee Jung-yong struggled, giving up seven runs on nine hits in 3.1 innings. Lee was followed by Son Ju-young, who gave up four runs on six hits in two innings. LG brought in its backups midway through the game to focus on the next game. Their five-game winning streak came to an end and their season record fell to 80 wins, 49 losses, and two ties.
