The South Korean women’s soccer team shook off lingering disappointment from the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand to secure a multi-goal victory in their first match of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
South Korea defeated Myanmar 3-0 in the first match of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Women’s Football Group E at the Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium in Yunzhou, China, on Wednesday. Lee Eun-young, Ji So-yeon, and Jeon Eun-ha scored consecutive goals. The three-goal win puts South Korea in first place in the group.
It was a disappointing end to the Women’s World Cup, which kicked off in July. After reaching the round of 16 for the first time in eight years at the 2015 World Cup in Canada, and possibly beyond, the tournament ended prematurely with one draw and two losses.
