Carroll sets new major league rookie record
Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Corbin Carroll set a new major league rookie record on Sept. 21 against the San Francisco Giants.
Carroll started in right field in the team’s 7-1 win. He went 4-for-5 with a home run, one RBI, and two doubles.
Carroll recorded his 25th home run of the season and 49th and 50th stolen bases of the season, becoming the first rookie in Major League Baseball history to reach the 25-homer, 50-steal mark.
Prior to Carroll, there had been eight players to hit 25 homers and steal 50 bases in a season, including Ronald Acuna Jr. (ATL) earlier this season. The great Rickey Henderson, Eric Davis, Joe Morgan, and Cesar Cedeno each hit 25-50 twice in their careers, while Ryne Sandberg, Barry Bonds, and Hanley Ramirez also joined the 25-50 club.
