Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal have promised Victor Osimhen (Napoli, 24) a huge payday.
“Al-Hilal have offered a total of €200 million for Osimhen. They are very serious about signing him and have offered him an annual salary of €40 million for five seasons,” Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Aug. 8 (KST).
Nigerian striker Osimhen joined Napoli from LOSC Lille in September 2020 for a transfer fee of €75 million. He signed a long-term contract until June 2025. He was a prolific goalscorer. He produced 10 goals and three assists in 30 games in 2020-21, 18 goals and six assists in 32 games in 2021-22, and 31 goals and five assists in 39 games in 2022-23. In his last season, he was the top scorer in the Italian Serie A (26 goals). His overall record in three seasons with Napoli is 59 goals and 14 assists in 101 games (per Transfermarkt). This has made him one of the hottest strikers in Europe.
Multiple clubs were in on him. Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid were among the mega-clubs that came calling, and Al-Hilal joined the ranks. Al Hilal has already signed Nabil Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Malcom. They wanted to add Osimhen to the mix.
On the 1st, an offer was made. “Al Hilal have offered Napoli 140 million euros (about 200 billion won) for Osimhen,” explained Sky Sports. This is very close to Napoli’s original asking price of €150 million.
